What could be better than baking cakes and biscuits?
baking cakes and biscuits and giving them away perhaps on Valentines day with an accompanying homemade card…
Giving things away is not always as easy as it sounds you have to overcome any shyness you might have, people might think you’re trying to sell them something but don’t let that put you off, one way to do this is to anonymously place your cards and baked goods in strategic locations.
But in the words of Morrissey “Shyness is nice but shyness can stop you from doing all the things in life you’d like to” So take your baked goods, give them away, and spread some biscuits in your local town or city, this will help you to overcome your shyness and it will help you improve your confidence in building a healthy art work life balance
Here’s an excerpt from my encounters on the day I gave away biscuits and cards in Manchester:
I left the building the way I came and saw that nearly all the cards I’d left had gone, I felt like I’d done enough, and could just drift around now, but after about half an hour I followed some tram lines and turned a corner to see in the distance a group of girls holding up posters, I couldn’t quite make out what they said and I was curious so I went for a closer look, as I approached I could hear “Would you like a free hug?”
girl1.”Would you like a free hug?”
Me. “yes, would you like a free card and biscuit?”
I was asked the same question by 2 of the other girls, and the other 2 asked if they could have cards too.
One said “This is what we were saying earlier”, remarking on the message on the card, “because until about 20 minutes ago we hadn’t had many hugs with anyone, then we started being a bit braver and now we’ve had about 20 hugs in 10 minutes. We just wanted to spread some love which is I suppose what you’re trying to do.”
