Sometimes you might see someone doing something and be envious of them, they might be moving to another country or be experiencing something new and you’d like to be in their shoes. If you don’t handle your envy in a positive way it can be frustrating, to see someone else and think why aren’t I doing that?
They may have had a bit of luck and it has probably taken a bit of planning, some element of risk taking and some hard art work life (im)balance. But maybe you already do all of this, so where do you go from here?
There aren’t any easy answers but by spending some time embracing what you have and reflecting on what you want, planning how you want to get there, you can take a risk, ask what is success? and by considering the importance of art, work and life, you can realise the important bits in your art/work/life, and what might be missing, and then your envy can be used to positive effect.
We aren’t here for long, so go out and do what you need to do and what you want to do to create a healthier art work life balance.
