Art Work Life Balance Number Twenty Seven: Imagine you are a cat, dog, bird or other animal

If you’re stuck for something to do, why not empathise with another animal, it’s good to remember that we are all part of this fortuitous planet.

For this exercise if you have a pet, it involves spending time with your cat/dog/rabbit/horse/bird or other. Imagine you are the same as them, what do you think makes them tick, if you were a cat/dog/parrot/hamster/[insert animal here] how would you approach your day? There is something you can learn from all animals and perhaps their way of doing things on some occasions might be an improvement? This doesn’t mean you should carry someone on your back, scratch at furniture or dig up next door neighbours garden, but perhaps forget about your troubles, stripped of material goods, you could take a nap, sleep for 18 hours, recharge your batteries, sit on the window ledge, play with a ball or ribbon, or look out and wait for the postman. If your pet or animal of choice is not as much of a domesticated animal then think of what they do and how you might be more like them, perhaps climb a tree or find a branch to perch upon.

So once you have spent some time living a bit like the pet or animal of your choice and taken a cat/dog/hamster/tortoise nap you should be able to look at your life from a different perspective and be ready to continue your art work life balance.
